- Develop, lead, manage, and implement strategic sourcing initiatives for material spend with a focus on driving savings and supporting new product development
- Develop and lead a negotiated commodity strategy that encompasses the commodity segment and is applied across the enterprise
- Establish effective relationships with key business partners to effectively integrate strategic sourcing into business strategy and purchasing decisions
Supporting Activities
- Utilize perspective to develop multiple strategies to complex situations and play out scenarios to select the most effective solution
- Develop sourcing alternatives to take advantage of market opportunities or to mitigate risk
- Articulate visions of possibilities and likelihoods while anticipating future trends accurately
- Navigate and negotiate with various cultures and levels within the organization to get things done
- Anticipate potential problems or areas of conflict across value streams and the organization, and involve appropriate resources to discuss and resolve
- Utilize appropriate resources inside and outside of the organization to determine solution, considering all possible options
- Review and assess current supplier contractual terms and conditions while working closely with Business Unit(s), Legal, and Finance groups to achieve joint objectives
- Develop cost models to drive supplier innovation in line with business needs
- Discover, develop, and implement sourcing solutions to create value
- Lead moderately sized cross-functional teams, demonstrating ability to coach and achieve results through others
- Routinely mentor less experienced personnel to solve problems using both experience and knowledge of structured problem solving methods
Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, technical or engineering
- 5+ years experience with commercial business exposure
- Experience in sourcing to support a growth business with significant new product development
- Experience managing contracts with vendors and suppliers including complex long-term contracts, short-term transactional agreements and consulting projects
- Demonstrated ability to undertake market research and complete comprehensive analysis using a broad range of inputs
- Ability to recognize and identify interaction of complex problems as an opportunity, while keeping the business impact and risks in mind
- Knowledge of markets and macro economic factors that influence commodity strategies
- Ability to use conflict as an opportunity to make a relationship stronger
- Global perspective and broad visionary acumen
- Ability to identify opportunities for synergy and integration where others cannot
- Proven track record with successful high value-added projects
- Ability to independently drive change
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
