    Responsible for the maintenance and engineering functions in the Sheeting Operations facility in alignment with Appvion’s Key Results, Strategic Objectives and Cultural Beliefs.

    • Provide leadership and support to maintenance employees working a Monday-Friday shift rotation, with some weekend work and on-call coverage based on business needs.
    • Drive a culture of safety.
    • Identify safety hazards on equipment and implement solutions.
    • Work closely with production on a daily basis to troubleshoot issues, maximize uptime and improve product quality.
    • Provide reliability-engineered solutions to improve overall equipment effectiveness in a converting Plant
    • Enhance equipment reliability through implementing TPM concepts.
    • Oversee the preparation, planning, scheduling, coordination and execution of maintenance and equipment reliability activities.
    • Lead and support preventative and predictive maintenance.
    • Initiate and manage the execution of capital and maintenance projects.
    • Establish project objectives, requirements, tasks, schedules, resources and milestones necessary to ensure projects are delivered within the defined scope, time and cost constraints.
    • Lead and integrate project and maintenance teams to ensure successful completion of scope, schedule and resource goals of each project.
    • Lead multiple projects utilizing best-practice project management processes.
    • Provide engineering leadership respective to continuous-improvement projects.
    • Ability to travel to Appleton, Wisconsin facility and/or equipment vendors on a weekly basis prior to equipment installation(s) and start-up is a must.

    Supporting Activities

    • Provide clear direction and vision, build effective teams, ensure safe working conditions, focus on customer needs, and practice sound business management.
    • Monitor and evaluate employees’ job performance and provide coaching and corrective action as needed in order to ensure safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and lean manufacturing initiatives are achieved.
    • Lead safety activities including one-on-one safety discussions, condition monitoring, housekeeping and safety inspections, safety meetings, accident investigations, near miss reporting, and development of job safety analyses.
    • Assess equipment performance, countermeasure problems, and identify reliability activities.
    • Track monthly equipment breakdown metrics on critical equipment to identify areas that need reliability focus.
    • Manage reliability-engineering work backlog.
    • Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
    • Manage project communications, including meetings, conference calls, weekly reports, and presentations.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of preventative/predictive maintenance to drive maintenance excellence.
    • Develop, update, maintain engineering documentation including equipment drawings, electrical schematics, manuals, etc.
    • Assist Sheeting Operations personnel in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, perform detailed equipment-failure analysis, and demonstrate strong root-cause identification techniques.
    • Train maintenance personnel on troubleshooting and maintaining all equipment.
    • Drive maintenance activity associated with planning, scheduling and execution for successful work order completion and equipment shutdowns.
    • Contact, interview, and request bids from vendors, suppliers, engineering consultants, contractors and other outside resources as needed.
    • Procure necessary parts, equipment, or services.
    • Manage spare parts and bill-of-materials.
    • Recommend and implement replacement and new technology advantageous to reliability, capability, and efficiency; address equipment obsolescence.

    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering.
    • 1-3 years leadership experience working in team environment.
    • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Excellent project management skills (prioritization, resource allocation, multitasking and business analytics).
    • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and strong team orientation.
    • Strong electrical controls and industrial electricity background.
    • Experience with converting equipment or other similar industrial machinery is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of preventative/predictive maintenance.
    • TPM and Lean training preferred.
    • Familiar with state of the art maintenance techniques, practices and procedures.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Excellent problem solving techniques and analytical skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
    • Displays initiative, cooperative, assertive, tactful and diplomatic.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, thus working responsibly and independently.
    • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Outlook), AutoCAD, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or equivalent, JDE ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or equivalent, Rockwell Automation PLC, HMI, Drive Software.
