    The Buyer’s primary responsibilities will be purchasing storeroom consumables / spares (MRO), indirect services, and capital project sourcing activities at the Roaring Spring, PA mill. They will also be a crucial resource for the mill’s internal customers for pioneering supply chain solutions. 

    • Develop / update and implement effective sourcing strategies to ensure a continuous supply of quality, competitively priced services, capital equipment, and consumables/spares.
    • Work with Maintenance to optimize inventory investment in the storeroom while continuing to support the Spring Mill daily production needs.
    • Continually evaluate and improve Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of materials and services.
    • Cultivate productive supplier relationships that deliver the highest total value to Appvion.
    • Partner closely with internal customers to understand and deliver innovative solutions.
    • Ensure compliance of all work activities to Appvion policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws.


    Supporting Activities

    • Meet with key internal stakeholders on a regular basis to identify and lead initiatives to improve total cost and overall vendor performance.
    • Prepare, solicit, evaluate technical SOW, RFI, RFP, RFQ documents, and manage suppliers to facilitate successful outcomes.
    • Investigate and screen potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
    • Proactively resolves issues with vendors and internal customers utilizing organizational savvy and problem solving skills to drive continuous improvement.
    • Develop and implement top spend MRO supplier scorecard process.
    • Identify and leverage opportunities for consigned and committed inventories from new strategic partners.
    • Review inventory levels and stocking strategies and make recommendations to optimize inventory investment to reduce stock-outs and maximize process uptime.
    • Negotiate with vendors daily to improve price, delivery, and payment terms.
    • Maintain working knowledge of the local, regional, and national supply agreements to leverage the maximum value for the Company by implement and administering all supply contracts as required.
    • Reduce purchase order costs.
    • Assist Maintenance and Engineering with sourcing strategies for project parts and services.
    • Process requisitions in CHAMPS and JDE buyer queues.
    • Process order acknowledgements, description changes, and lead-time updates in CHAMPS and JDE.


    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of recent, relevant experience in indirect procurement roles; Professional designations such as CPM, CPSM, and CPIM preferred.
    • Strong understanding of best purchasing and inventory management practices related to MRO.
    • Experience in supplier sourcing, qualification, and performance management.
    • Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Recognizes a sense of urgency and displays the ability to engage people in a positive manner to move outlined initiatives forward.
    • Good working knowledge of process based manufacturing a plus.
    • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is expected and exposure to JDE ERP and storeroom inventory (CMMS) systems preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial terms and contract law.
    • Strong analytical skills with experience in Excel and database querying tools.
    • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
