  • Expected Results

    • Monitors and maintains an effective environmental management system required for plant-wide best practices and regulatory compliance; the individual in this position must clearly understand all local, state and federal environmental compliance regulations and procedures, as well as the sources and associated pollution control systems used at the facility
    • Drives the plant safety program towards the goal of an incident free workplace and OSHA regulatory compliance.  Supports company-wide efforts in the safety area
    • Implements, monitors, and maintains programs and procedures to reduce occupational health risks

    Supporting Activities

    • Ensuring plant compliance with all environmental and safety legislation.
    • Responsible for ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
    • Prepare regulatory reports and permit applications
    • Communicate with local, state and federal agencies
    • Provide technical support for capital projects and process related issues in the EHS area
    • Training and/or educating staff at all levels in environmental and safety issues and responsibilities
    • Manages plant Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) system
    • Lead and/or support teams pursuing plant safety and environmental objectives
    • Coordinate and lead plant wellness initiatives
    • Acts as a member of the plant leadership team working closely with union personnel

    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • BS in Environmental, Health, and Safety or related field.
    • Demonstrated ability to build teams and work in a team environment
    • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and a developed competency to influence and to lead and manage others towards goal of zero injuries
    • Basic meeting, facilitation, and listening skills
    • Established ability to manage change and conflict as required
    • Familiarity with safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental laws and regulations
    • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
    • Strong computer skills with competent understanding of common office and statistical software programs
    • Strong report writing, grammar and presentation skills
    • Ability to interpret and apply new or changed regulations
    • Seeks latest information about industry practices, standards and trends
    • Self-directed with strong organizational and planning skills
    • This position is located at a coating plant in West Carrollton, Ohio with approximately 110 employees
    • Ability to work at least 40 hours/week
    • Regular attendance required
