  • Expected Results

    • Work within the corporate transportation department to analyze business needs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs within international and domestic transportation/logistics.
    • Identify, analyze and execute logistics plans to ensure least cost, best quality and timely delivery of Appvion products to international and domestic customers and existing distribution facilities.
    • Effectively work with customer service, sales, scheduling, MP&I, and the distribution network on a variety of transportation related items, while balancing cost and service.

    Supporting Activities

    • Assist in driving strategic projects related to business plan including the reporting of savings and performance of our transportation and logistics programs
    • Understand the plant and distribution center network and mode of transport options to provide support to sales, customer service, scheduling, and MP&I.
    • Audit domestic and international carrier and freight forwarder invoices based on contracts and agreements that are established by corporate transportation.
    • Extract and analyze data using Appvion’s data warehouse and business intelligence systems to identify cost savings opportunities
    • Resolve problem shipments, resolve data integrity issues, assess supply chain concerns and effectively communicate with other departments.
    • Test standard operating procedures (SOP’s) related to department activities.
    • Manage transportation process for an external location to include working with carrier and internal customers.

    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • Must be a current business full-time student, pursing a bachelor’s degree. Supply chain and/or operations management major is a plus.
    • Must be able to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the school year, and full time during the summer and school breaks.
    • Junior student status preferred
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make effective decisions and accept ownership.
    • Must have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access).
    • Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
