  • Expected Results

    • Manage all Utilities department resources in alignment with Appvion’s Strategic Objectives and Core Values.
    • Develop and implement plans that maximize results of the Utilities department.
    • Ensure equipment reliability and uptime are maximized to support the mill operations.
    • Provide a safe environment for all employees and deliver safety performance results.
    • Prioritize work orders, manage backlog, and coordinate activities between Production and Maintenance.

    Supporting Activities

    • Maintain daily awareness of process issues and corrective actions.
    • Drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting Environmental, Health and Safety, Compliance, Reliability, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Production, and Costs.
    • Build effective relationships with co-workers and customers.
    • Deliver safety performance results by leading the follow up and completion of safety related items in both Champs and IndustrySafe for the Utilities areas.
    • Coordinate and execute daily maintenance activities.
    • Review work request and safety work requests to determine priority and required information, then approves work requests and converts to work orders.
    • Support Preventative/Predictive Maintenance program.
    • Provide back up for key activities of the Superintendent (production meetings, reports, etc.).
    • Assist with the scheduling/planning efforts of all Utilities Area outages.
    • Play a key role in initiating and supporting CMOC’s through completion.
    • Assist with Pulp Mill/Woodyard operations as needed.
    • Participate in a duty coverage team rotation that includes weekend and on-call coverage.
    • Provide coverage as needed for the Pulp Mill/Utilities Shift Supervisor
    • Demonstrate and cultivate Appvion's Core Values.

    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering field is preferred or a minimum of 2-5 years Utilities management experience.
    • Experience with industrial boilers operation and maintenance.
    • Familiarity with Recovery Boiler operations.
    • Familiarity with Waste Treatment Plant operations.
    • Knowledge of maintenance management principles including but not limited to precision maintenance, preventative maintenance, root cause failure analysis, shutdown and contingency planning, and CMMS software.
    • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Evidence of required management leadership competencies.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
