  • Expected Results

    • Provide direction and supervision in a union environment to meet the maintenance and support requirements of all areas of the mill in a safe, timely, efficient and quality manner.
    • Supervise multi-craft personnel in the pulp & paper areas. 
    • Position does require the individual to be part of a duty coverage team rotation which requires weekend and on-call coverage.

    Supporting Activities

    • Provide direction, coaching, and feedback to personnel in the safe, timely, efficient and quality execution of their responsibilities.
    • Coordinate and assign work, oversee multiple concurrent jobs, and adjust as necessary during planned maintenance shutdowns.
    • Take corrective action to remove safety hazards and ensure work areas are kept organized and safe.
    • Investigate incident, substandard condition or near miss reports in a timely and thorough manner and recommend solutions.
    • Provide required safety training for department personnel.  Identify opportunities, implement procedures and provide additional training to minimize risk of personal injury or property loss.
    • Provide training and education necessary to improve skills and knowledge.
    • Coordinates and lead personnel in identifying equipment and facilities maintenance problems and preventive maintenance tasks, and ensure effective execution of the work for reliability improvement.
    • Develop and manage maintenance service contracts.
    • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and procedures.
    • Source and procure parts or services required to support maintenance work.
    • Recommend improvements to equipment, processes, methods and procedures.
    • Interface daily with purchasing, accounting, maintenance, engineering, and operations employees, and supports all operations.
    • Develop an understanding of mill processes and operations.

    Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education/certification and experience.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing process equipment, and basic equipment maintenance procedures.
    • Knowledge of and experience with Electrical and Instrumentation systems troubleshooting and repair.
    • Self-directed leader who can engage and empower direct reports, as well as influence others in a positive manner to move outlined initiatives forward.
    • Excellent supervisory and communication skills, people and organizational skills, and a strong safety focus.
    • Demonstrated experience in driving and achieving results measured against pre-established metrics.
    • Significant work experience leading employees and driving change (in a union environment desired).
    • Experience with AutoCad is a plus. 
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, CMMS Database).
    • Evidence of required management leadership competencies.
